Hanoi Cuisine

Hanoi Cuisine

Hanoi has been the capital for more than 1000 years. Thanks for its huge and convenient rivers system, the wealthy citadel was always home to artisans and very high educated people. This is the reason why Hanoi cuisine is very delicate, and extremely special.

Restaurants owned by families for a long period of time in Hanoi and they have special recipes with secret ways to cook delicious authentic Hanoian food that you cannot find it anywhere else.

Many famous people and celebs have been to Hanoi and fall in love with our local cuisine, there is a person that I have to mention among them, he is the late President Obama. If the super chief with 16 Michelin stars Gordon Ramsay is mesmerized by “Hu tieu” in the South of Vietnam then “Bun cha” with delicious beer are what Obama special order for his dinner, the restaurant that he came called Bun Cha Huong Lien. Besides this one, there are many other good Bun Cha restaurants with same quality and price. And it’s worked the same way with different foods.

Referring to Hanoi food, it is impossible not to mention Pho – the most famous dish in Vietnam. Pho soon became famous in the world and considered Vietnam’s national dish, the modern form emerged between 1900 and 1907 in northern Vietnam, southeast of Hanoi, Nam Dinh province, then a substantial textile market. Pho is listed at number 28 on “World’s 50 most delicious foods” compiled  by CNN Go in 2011.

Recently, the fact that Hanoi honored to receive Asian Cuisines Award for three dishes of Pho, Bun Thang (vermicelli with chicken soup) and Bun Cha (rice noodles with barbecued pork) has satisfied foodies of the capital.

If you decide to choose this thousand years old land to be your second home, do not forget to enjoy the cuisine here like a real local, because who knows, besides people and the land its self, you might fall in love with these dishes too?
